1. Do I need to book in advance?
Definitely! To ensure you get the time and game you want, it is best to book in advance online. We do not take reservations. When you book you are purchasing your tickets. Although we occasionally have room for walk-in groups, the games can fill up quickly and walk-ins are handled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Don’t be the guy who can’t play because he forgot to book!
2. How do I book tickets and pay online?
Simply fill out the online form by selecting your game and entering your player and payment information. All games are paid online at the time of booking through credit or debit. Once your transaction is complete you will receive a confirmation email.
3. How much does it cost?
Ticket price: $32 per person, plus taxes & fees.
4. How many players can play at once?
We suggest the Crypt and Museum Games for 2-8 players, Studio 31 Disco Game for 2-6 players, and Hellevator Game for 2-4 players. It is not necessary to make up the full number of players in order to play. There is a two-player requirement at our facility due to some of the activities during the games. We can not run a game for just one player. We will allow one or two extra players over these numbers, but you must understand some players will not have as much to do.
5. Will I be playing with players I don’t know?
Our games are private, but if you would like to play with other people, let us know and we will do our best to match you up with another group.
6. How do I book my friends at the same time?
You can book online by filling out the online form and purchasing all the tickets for your party. Or if some players wish to pay separately, you can purchase the first two tickets online (this will automatically lock your game, making it private), and then the rest of your party can pay at our door. Please make sure you come early enough so we can complete these extra transactions. Please do not bring more players than the following: Crypt 2-8 players (10 max), Museum 2-8 players (10 max), Studio 31 Disco 2-6 players (8 max), Hellevator 2-4 players (4 max).
7. Can I use my cell phone during the game?
No, Bro, technology is not allowed during the game because using your own mental skills and getting unplugged is the whole point! If there is an emergency because you are “like” a brain surgeon or something or if you really, really need to take a call from that cute guy you’ve been stalking –you may step out of the game room to do so. Once again, be advised the clock does not stop and your team continues on.
*Note: Please be courteous – turn off your phone’s ringer during gameplay.
8. Where are you located?
We are conveniently located on Franklin Square across from City Market at 31 Montgomery St., Savannah, GA. Situated on the corner of Congress and Montgomery Streets, the entrance is through our 403 Congress St. door. Close to shops and dining, we are in a historic, three-story building from the 1860s in a well-lit, safe, and secure part of town. Nearby businesses include The Rail Pub and Congress Street Social Club.
9. What are your hours?
Monday 1:00 PM-8:00 PM, Tuesday through Saturday 1:00 PM-11:00 PM, Sunday 1:00 PM-8:00 PM. Corporate and Event Groups can be accommodated on other days and times but must have a minimum of 15 players. Please call for more information We are closed on some major holidays. Please call (912) 424-5774 for our holiday schedule.
10. Do you have parking?
Numerous street meters and parking garages are located nearby. After 8:00 pm and on Sundays, meter parking is free. The County Courthouse Garage is one block away at the corner of Montgomery and Broughton Streets. The City of Savannah Robert E. Robinson Parking Garage is two blocks away at the corner of Montgomery and W. York Streets. We’re a pedestrian-friendly city, so just walk or grab a pedicab if you’re staying nearby!
11. What are your health and safety measures?
When you arrive, you will come to our box office window to purchase tickets or to give your booking name. Our staff will let you into the lobby, where touch-free hand sanitizer will be available for your use. We disinfect our games between players and clean our facility all day long, including our restrooms. We are doing everything we can to follow best practices because we want you to have fun and not worry!
12. What is the difficulty level?
All of our games have been designed to be challenging and require a variety of skills and abilities. Not everyone is able to solve the mission, but don’t worry because your main mission is just to have fun! We offer different difficulty levels so that you can design your own experience! Our Crypt game is great for first-time players, families, and tourists. If you’re up for a bit more thinking, you’ll want to try our moderately difficult Hellevator or Museum games. Students and corporate groups love the team-building and camaraderie required to work through the puzzles. However, if you are a seasoned escape room pro, then our most difficult Studio 31 Disco Game is the one for you!
13. Is the game physically challenging?
The games are designed to be mentally stimulating rather than physical. However, a fair amount of mobility is required as you may be bending down, lifting objects, or reaching overhead for clues. We wouldn’t describe it as strenuous, but you will definitely be moving around a lot.
14. What should I expect at check-in?
If there are members of your party that need to pay, please arrive a little early so we have time to process those payments. If everyone is already paid, there is no need to arrive early, but do make sure you arrive no later than your assigned arrival time. First, you’ll be signing our check-in waiver and meeting your Cryptologist Host/ess, who will brief you on your game mission but don’t worry because the time for all this has been built into our schedule. Then get ready for an adventure of a lifetime!
15. What if I’m running late?
We get it -sometimes traffic is bad or stuff happens. If you are less than 30 minutes late your group will be allowed to play but this will cause you to have less time in the game. So be on time, ‘cause you’re going to want your full 60 minutes and the full Encryption Experience! You will not be given a refund if you show up late!
16. Do you offer refunds, and what is the cancellation policy?
Sorry, but all sales are final. Just like a movie theater, there are only so many tickets available per game. When you purchased those tickets, you held those spots so that no one else could purchase them, so if you cancel, no-show, or arrive late you will not receive a refund. However, we understand sometimes things happen, so if you contact us at least 24 hours prior to the commencement of your game, we will do our best to reschedule your game but we will not do this at the last minute. Please note that rescheduling is subject to our availability, so rescheduled games generally occur within a two-week period on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, when we are less busy.
17. Do you sell food or drinks?
Nope, but Vinnie Van Go-Go’s Pizza is across the square and The Rail Pub is next door. Please be advised no food is allowed in the game rooms but we do have drink trays in the rooms if you decide to bring in a beverage. Please drink responsibly and do not arrive visibly intoxicated as you may be refused service if we determine you are putting yourself, other players, or our property at risk.
18. For what age range are the games designed?
Due to the intellectual nature of the games, we recommend our games for ages 10 to adult, but players of all ages can enjoy the experience; however, we do not suggest bringing children under the age of six. Players aged 14 and under must be accompanied by one paying adult, and all players younger than 18 will need to have a parent or guardian sign a waiver on their behalf: Waiver for minors under the age of 18. Guests 5 and younger are not charged admission.
19. How long is the game, and how many games is my ticket good for?
A game lasts no longer than 60 minutes and your ticket is good for one game. However, if you have a free afternoon, you are welcome to book more games and have a marathon experience.
20. Do I need to bring anything?
If you are under the age of 18, you will need to bring your waiver signed by your parent or legal guardian. If you are under the age of 14 your group must be accompanied by one paying adult; otherwise, there is nothing you need to bring. If you do bring any personal belongings, lockers are provided for small items like keys, phones, and purses.
21. Can I take photos or video during the game?
No photography or videography is allowed in the game rooms. You may take selfies in the rest of the facility.
22. Are there special effects?
There are lighting effects during certain games but no strobe lights. Also, there are a few “surprise” effects.
23. Can you accommodate large groups or corporate events?
Of course! Our group rate starts at 17 or more guests. From corporate team building and staff appreciation activities to birthday and bachelor/ette parties, we’ve got you covered! Check out our corporate group page online or contact us at (912) 424-5774 for more information.
24. Can my group have more people than the maximum game capacity?
Our games are designed for the stated capacity listed, so we don’t recommend playing with more than the limit because some players could find themselves without much to do. However, if you would like to have an extra player join your group you may do so.
25. Am I really locked in?
No, call us crazy but we suspect some people would freak out if we did that! The door you enter the game through is always left unlocked. Remember, this is just a game, and BTW you’re not really a pirate either!
26. Will I be in any danger or is it scary?
Do you think battling pirates will be easy? Just kidding! Didn’t you read #25? You will not be in danger unless your friends turn on you for not solving a puzzle correctly. There are a few surprises but we would say it’s more suspenseful than scary. There are no live actors in the room with you, but you will be monitored by video cameras.
27. What if I need to leave the room for some reason?
Sometimes nature calls at inopportune times, so you may leave the game at any point if you need to, but be advised the clock does not stop and your team continues on without you.
28. Are you hiring?
We are always happy to take a look at your resume. Submit resumes to [email protected]
29. Can I book a time not available on the website?
Yes, but only for corporate or event groups of more than 15. Please call (912) 424-5774 so one of our Cryptologists can check to see if we can accommodate you.
30. What happens if I don’t follow the rules?
Seriously? You’re going to be that guy? The RULES, such as not climbing on the furniture have been designed to ensure you have a great experience. Remember you are monitored by the camera so we will know if rules are broken! Failure to abide by the rules will result in being pulled from the game without a refund. Your experience is our highest priority, so please follow the rules. Actually having a good time is our highest priority, but your experience is a close second!
